Scoliosis Exercises Help Alex Reduce Her Curves!
Congratulations Alex!
Alex’s sent me this email on Friday:
Hey Dr. Marc,
Me and my mom just went to the hospital and got my out of brace x-ray. My curve went from 38 to 22 degrees and my rotation was like 20 to 9 -YAY!
Way to go Alex. Results like yours are promising, not only for you, but for others committed to practicing Schroth exercises regularly. Your results are motivating and just might inspire some who are on the fence and skeptical about Schroth. As my patients know, I never promise curve reduction, but, of course, always hope for it for the younger patients with more flexible spines. This summer, it has been rewarding for me to see dedicated teens achieve positive results by working diligently. I couldn’t be happier. Keep up the good work Alex.
I will post Alex’s x-rays as soon as I receive the disk.

Hi Kathy,
It does sound like your daughter may be a potential candidate for Schroth. However, there are numerous factors to consider prior to initiating our program. A few are: Risser sign, bone age, medical history, spinal flexibility, discipline (is your child willing to do the program?) etc. Our program is comprehensive and usually seven days of training for three hours duration. Many people from the NY, NJ area or beyond, choose to break up the training into sessions over 4 day, then 3 day over two long weekends.
Typically, patients email, or snail mail, recent x-rays, five digital photos as indicated on the New Patient page, and a scoliosis and medical history for an assessment.
It happens that Marc just received a testimonial from a mom who brought her son from New Jersey in August; his scoliosis was in the same range as your daughter’s. You may want to check out her perspective of the program on our Schroth Testimonials page.
Hi my daughter has mild scoliosis and was in a spinec or brace since 9. She recently turned 13 and curve progressed to a 24 degree curve. Do you think your program would benefit her? She is currently seen by dr Deutchman and dr. Lama Tia in NYC.
Betty, thank you for your question. I understand your concerns but the majority of times the cause of scoliosis is considered idiopathic, or unknown, so it is unlikely your daughter’s heart surgeries had anything to do with her scoliosis. You indicated she is braced and around twelve. It is likely she can improve her chances to halt curve progression using the Schroth Method, even when braced. If you would like, please send me a private message or call my office and we can discuss her case. Best of luck to you both. -Marc
