For four years, this patient and her mom traveled from Japan to Boston each July to manage her scoliosis and to try to stay ahead of the curve, so to speak. When she first came to see us, the scoliosis curves measured 14º and 28º. I participated in our Schroth program and we fit her for a brace. Due to her substantial growth, and the distance they travel to see us each summer her parents opted to replace her brace each summer on their annual trip. We are happy to report I got successively better with each passing year and experienced moderate scoliosis straightening via the conservative treatment we offer. The x-ray displayed is I at Risser 4–almost fully grown. Her scoliosis ended up in the mild category and stable with the final measurements we have for her as 13º and 15º–a 46% improvement in her lumbar spine.
