After originally following the traditional route with her oldest child (CH1) and watching her progress to 50º, this patient’s mom wasn’t taking any chances when her second daughter (CH2) was diagnosed with scoliosis. CH2 was instructed in Schroth Best Practice® and fitted for a Chêneau-Gensingen brace in our office. Her in-brace x-ray showed complete correction!
CH2 is an excellent example of the potential of corrective bracing for younger kids with flexible spines. Within 6 months, her out-of-brace x-ray showed almost complete spinal correction. She’s remained stable for more than eighteen months and although she still has significant growth ahead of her, Dr. Marc cut her brace wear to part-time and is keeping a close eye on her spine. She continues to incorporate her ADLs and other auto-correction exercises. Her last x-ray report, showed Cobb angles of 7º and 4º – no longer a scoliosis.
