The 3DC Difference: Three-Dimensional Correction
At Scoliosis 3DC®, our name reflects our mission. 3DC stands for three-dimensional correction and it’s our goal for every patient: spinal improvement in three dimensions.
Cobb angle is the standard measurement used to define scoliosis, but it’s a limited view. Cobb angle represents measurement in the frontal plane (#1). In reality, scoliosis affects the spine (and trunk) in three planes: the frontal, sagittal (#2) and transverse (#3).
Schroth Therapy and 3D Scoliosis Bracing: Two Powerful Weapons Against Scoliosis
For patients, and families wanting the most vigorous non-surgical course of treatment, our two-pronged approach offers the most potent weapons in the fight against scoliosis progression. Our ultimate goal for scoliosis patients is improvement in the three planes of scoliosis. When appropriately combined, scoliosis-specific exercise and 3D bracing work together for the best possible outcome.
Our Schroth therapy immersion program is the culmination of years of clinical work. We use nuanced Schroth techniques to help stabilize and/or improve scoliosis in three dimensions. With Schroth Best Practice®, patients are educated and learn to internalize ways to avoid postures that may worsen their scoliosis and adopt postures that enable improved spinal alignment. Auto-correction and Schroth breathing are used to help improve spinal alignment, trunk strength and overall postural appearance (1). These newfound skills help empower patients–young and old–and can help to eliminate or lessen any negative feelings or scoliosis-related anxiety.
As a result of his years of treating scoliosis patients from all over, Dr. Marc recognized the need for an improved standard of scoliosis bracing. In 2013, he introduced what he considers to be the best scoliosis brace available –the German-designed Chêneau-Gensingen® brace. Each asymmetric, corrective brace is produced via CAD/CAM to mirror the scoliosis pattern and provide correction to the spine and posture in all three dimensions. Each 3D scoliosis brace is fit to exacting standards for optimal patient comfort with the goal of coercing spinal improvement.
Patients can be assured that there is no more comprehensive or advanced Schroth method program or better scoliosis brace available anywhere–nor is there a more experienced, knowledgeable and passionate team.
The 3DC difference means that you, or your child, learn how to improve their chances for improved outcomes and to live a better quality life with scoliosis.
