• 8-year-old female
  • Initial Cobb angles 21º/26º
  • Risser 0

This is a case of juvenile scoliosis in a little girl with an extensive family history of scoliosis. Her mom and aunt (twins) both had scoliosis surgery and her two older cousins (also Scoliosis 3DC® patients) also have scoliosis. They are also a tall family (originating from Eastern Europe), so NN has significant growth potential. All of these factors, plus the fact that her scoliosis is early-onset, translate to a very high risk of curve progression.

NN recently turned eleven years-old. On her initial visit, her scoliosis curves measured 21º and 26º. Since then she’s grown more than seventeen centimeters while reducing her scoliosis to 16º and 19º! She’s corrected quite well in each of her braces. In her current brace, her spine corrects to 8º and 12º. While this patient is still a Risser 0 and will continue to require active scoliosis management until she is fully grown, we are optimistic for her!

Had we stuck with the traditional methods, I have no doubt that we would be in a very different place right now. You will not find either a man who cares more or that does a better job than Dr. Marc Moramarco.” Read More
