• 13-year-old male
  • Initial Cobb angles 69º/34º
  • Risser 2

This Florida boy presented with severe scoliosis. His parents are opposed to surgery so they called us and arranged to bring their son for our Schroth Best Practice® program and a Chêneau-Gensingen Brace. In ten months, his 69º thoracic scoliosis has decreased to 53º and his 34º lumbar scoliosis has decreased to 28º. He has also  benefited from reduced trunk rotation and a better balanced, more stable spine. With respect to skeletal maturity, he is now close to Risser 4 and is still under treatment. We are thrilled that he has been able to halt progression and have some radiological improvement, especially when considering his Cobb angle at the start of treatment. With continued compliance, we hope to see further spinal and postural improvements.
