• 13-year-old male
  • Initial Cobb angles 69º/34º
  • Risser 2

This Florida boy presented with severe scoliosis. His parents were opposed to surgery. They called us and arranged to bring their son for our Schroth program and a brace. In ten months, his 69º thoracic scoliosis decreased to 53º and his 34º lumbar scoliosis decreased to 28º. He also experienced reduced trunk rotation (ATR) and a better-balanced, more stable spine. With respect to skeletal maturity, in the x-ray below he was nearing Risser 4. We’re happy he was able to gain some radiological improvement, especially considering his very severe Cobb angle at the start of treatment.
